New Opportunities Abound for Rush Select Players

Entry into USYS’s E64 League Offers Enhanced Exposure for Players in a Competitive Setting

As spring seasons conclude nationwide, Rush Soccer’s Select program is gearing up to enhance its fall competition following its acceptance into the new E64 league established by USYS.

Michael Ritch, one of Rush Soccer’s National Technical Directors, articulated how Rush’s participation in the E64 will provide greater opportunities for competitive advancement for Rush Select players across the country.

“This opportunity enables us to unite and truly showcase our abilities while ensuring our top players gain valuable exposure,” Ritch remarked. “It allows them to experience what the next level entails, fostering their development and encouraging them to strive towards their full potential.”

The E64 season will consist of a 14-game regular schedule, supplemented by two showcase events and a postseason playoff, thus offering Rush Select players increased visibility and development opportunities.

This innovative structure also grants Rush Select flexibility for both coaching staff and families of the players.

“What USYS has enabled us to do is create larger player pools than what a typical team would consist of,” Ritch explained. “For instance, a club like Mississippi Rush may have a tournament scheduled during an Elite 64 competition weekend when their players are not fully available. Meanwhile, clubs such as Coastal or Cajun Rush may be free, allowing us to draw players from these clubs to adequately fill our roster.”

“While maintaining continuity is important, this arrangement also provides flexibility in managing travel logistics for families, as well as addressing financial considerations, ensuring that participants do not have to commit to every event.”

“This structure allows us to evaluate our teams in a collaborative environment as they compete for a trophy throughout the year, in contrast to participating in regional events against other regions.”

Rush Select events will continue as planned, with the E64 serving as an additional competitive experience. As the inaugural fall season of 2022 approaches, two Rush clubs—Lobos Rush in western Tennessee and Idaho Rush in Boise—will join two Rush Select teams, Select Desert and Select South, in the league.

“The advantageous aspect of being part of a Rush Club is the access to this expanded network,” Ritch noted. “We can recruit players from across the country, leveraging a vast player pool. We encourage everyone to stay informed about our developments and evolution; we will be sharing more details in the coming months.”
